Florida Power of Attorney Apostille

A power of attorney (POA) apostille allows your attorney-in-fact to legally act on your behalf in a foreign country — for real estate transactions, business dealings, banking, and more. Florida-drafted POAs must be apostilled before they'll be recognized internationally.

What You Need to Prepare

  • Signed Power of Attorney document (do not sign until in front of notary)
  • Government-issued photo ID for the grantor (and agent if present)
  • Two witnesses may be required depending on POA type
  • Document must be drafted in compliance with Florida statute §709

Step-by-Step Power of Attorney Apostille Process
1

Draft & Review the POA

Before You Visit

The POA must meet Florida legal requirements (§709.2105). We recommend having an attorney draft it, or using a state-compliant template for simple POAs. Do NOT sign before meeting with a notary.

2

Notarize Before the Notary

Notary Required

You sign the POA in the presence of our Florida notary. The notary verifies your identity, witnesses the signing, and applies the official notary seal. Two witnesses may also be required.

3

Submit to FL Secretary of State

We Handle This

The notarized POA is submitted for apostille. The state authenticates the notary's commission and signature — validating the entire document.

4

Apostille Attached

State Office

The Hague apostille is attached to your notarized POA. The complete package is now legally recognized in all 120+ Hague Convention member countries.

5

Certified Delivery

We Handle This

We return your apostilled POA via secure tracked delivery. For international use, we recommend certified mail or FedEx international.
